Where can I find help to make my resource list more inclusive?

I want to explore decolonising and the inclusion of more diverse voices in my resource list but I'm not sure where to start.

Answer

A great place to start you thinking about the different kinds of material that you might want to include is the Inclusive Resource Lists page which is part of our Resource List Training Canvas course.

Here you will find subject-specific inclusive resource lists, publishers and distributors of texts by diverse authors, and toolkits and resources for academics looking to reappraise their lists and enact change more widely in academia.

We have also created a page with guidance on searching the library catalogue, databases and the web to find inclusive material which you can find on our Where to Find Content page.

If you find some good resources that we don't already hold please Suggest a Purchase so that we can add these to our collection, or if you are aware of a good inclusive resource list/publisher/toolkit please get in touch with Jenna Meek (Assistant Librarian - Resource Lists) so that we can add this to the Inclusive Resource Lists page for other staff to use.

We are always really keen to chat to staff about work around inclusive practice and decolonisation, so if you would like to discuss your resource list, collaborating with the library, or you would like help finding inclusive material on a particular topic please get in touch with Jenna and she will be happy to help.

You can also request decolonising resource lists in-person/Zoom training for yourself or your department by emailing resourcelist@gsa.ac.uk
