How do I know which issues of print journals you have in the library?

Answer

As well as access to hundreds of digital journals and magazines, the library also holds many print journals.

Current issues of print journals are located near the entrance to the library beside our zine collection, across from the two self-issue machines.

Back issues are kept in rolling racks at the rear of the ground floor, on the raised platform/stage.

To find out which issues of a print journal we have, follow the below instructions:

  • Search for the journal title in the library catalogue
  • Click on 'Library (Print Only)', which will show you journals we only hold in print

The GSA Library catalogue with the journal Architectural Design typed into the search bar, and the option 'Library (Print Only)' highlighted.

  • Find the correct journal in the list and click on the title

A list of items found by putting the journal title in the search bar, with the correct journal highlighted in red.

  • In the 'Get It' section, select the relevant location.
    • Some journals are only held in one location, and this step can be skipped.
    • Journals held in our 'Reserve Collection (Ask at Desk)' are usually pre-1980s, and issues held in 'Journals Collection (Level 0) are usually 1980s onwards.

The 'Get It' section of an item record in the library catalogue is highlighted, which shows which location the book is held at.

  •  You can then find information on what issues we have at this location at the top of the list. You can also find information on individual issues not shown by clicking 'Show More Items'.

Areas where you can find information on what journal issues are held are highlighted.

  • To find out which issues are held at another location, click the 'Back to Locations' link and click on another location to find out.

You can also browse our collection in person, either in the current issues or rolling stacks, to see what issues we have.
