How do I submit to Turnitin?
Answer
Submitting your work to a Turnitin assignment
If your tutor has set up a Turnitin assignment, it will be visible within the Assignments item on your course menu.
You will need to accept the Turnitin End-User License Agreement before you can submit your work. Select Upload Submission.
You may be required to upload a certain file type, such as PDF or DOC. Choose your file and then select Upload and Review. #
Finding your Similarity Report
You may find that your similarity report is available immediately for review. Sometimes, after 3 attempts, you'll need to wait 24 hours.
When your report is ready, you'll see a red, orange, or green square with a percentage figure next to it. Select this to review the Similarity Report in the Feedback Studio.
You'll then be able to view your report in the Feedback Studio or by downloading it.
Tips to remember:
- It is common for Turnitin to highlight your whole bibliography. This is because the sources you have used are likely to appear in the bibliographies of other academic work. This is not an absolute rule and you should always check you are referencing correctly, but biliographgies can account for quite high percentages of the similarity report.
- The similarity index indicates what percentage of your work can be found in other sources. This number does not indicate whether or not you have plagiarised this work. It is important that you look through your work carefully and make sure that you know how to reference the sources you use in the correct way for your discipline.
