How do I access the Glasgow University Library?

Answer

All GSA staff are entitled to access Glasgow University Library’s print and digital resources as Affiliate staff members. To gain access to these resources, please complete and sign the 'Honorary and Associate Status Registration Form' (excluding Authorisation section) and return to GSA Library

After around two weeks, you should receive information directly from the University of Glasgow detailing how to activate your Glasgow University Library account

Once you have activated your GUID, you can use it to access 1000s of digital resources from Glasgow University Library. These are in addition to the digital resources you enjoy at GSA Library.

For entry access to the University of Glasgow library building, you can request a physical UofG Staff ID. To do so, follow these steps:

  • First, go to the UofG online Helpdesk https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/it/helpdesk/ and click Self Service
  • Click the grey GUID box, and fill in the details UofG have provided
  • Once logged in to the UofG Helpdesk, click the purple Request or Report something box
  • In the upper right search field type in 'Staff ID', click the Staff ID Card icon, then click Request
  • Fill in the form and make sure to upload a passport-style photo. Your staff number will have been on the email you received from UofG
  • They're pretty quick at printing the cards, you should receive a notification when it's done and it's picked up at the UofG library welcome desk
